Sierra County Real Estate

Local Information | Miners EmporiumHome Page

Jan Koettel, selling Real Estate in the greater Sierra County area, since moving to Sierra City.

I enjoy working with clients, be it a seller who needs to leave the area, or with a buyer who wants to find Sierra County Real Estate. I will do all that I can to make the transaction as smooth as possible.

Having purchased a lot in Sierra city and going through the building process, it has made me familiar with the obstacles, challenges and joys of construction.

Purchasing in the Sierras should be enjoyable. You are leaving behind the stress of the city. This is a wonderful area with all of the outdoor activities that it has to offer, fishing, kayaking, hiking and gold panning, and winter activities like snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing & snow-mobiling to mention a few. Raising a family in a small community also has its benefits.

I am a member of the Plumas County Board of Realtors & the MLS, the California and the National Association of Realtors. I have information on properties in the greater Sierra County area, stretching from Downieville, along Hwy 49 through Sierra City and into the Sierra Valley. I can also provide you info on what is available in Graeagle.

I am an active member and current treasurer of the Sierra County Chamber of Commerce. I have also helped put together the Sierra City Improvement Committee, which sponsors the Oktoberfest every October in Sierra City. I enjoy getting involved with the community.Sierra County claims more than 40 alpine lakes, most of them in the Sierra Buttes Lakes Basin Recreation area. Camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rafting, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and other activities abound in a natural and tranquil setting.

Just across the 6700-foot high Yuba Pass lies eastern Sierra County and the towns of Loyalton, Sierraville, Calpine and Sattley in the beautiful Sierra Valley. This 5000-foot elevation mountain valley reflects life as it used to be in much of the west. Herds of cattle graze amid century-old barns built by early ranchers. Due to its extensive wetlands and location on a major flyway, the valley is a noted bird-watching location. Even rare bald eagles are seen here quite frequently. We even share the town of Verdi with Nevada in the southeastern corner of the county.

Sierra County is easily accessible year round. During winter months, Highways 49 and 89 into the county are regularly maintained – the Yuba Pass rarely closes. A blanket of snow sparkles in the sunlight at the higher elevations. In spring and early summer, wildflowers are abundant in all areas of the county. Autumn colors are spectacular, and the mountain air is crisp and fresh.

Live and work in a friendly rural environment: Small towns with good schools and low student-teacher ratios, outdoor recreation opportunities, and exceptional people. We have four seasons the way they are supposed to be - each quite distinct and incredibly beautiful. Clean air, no traffic lights, no rush hour - what more could you want?

I am looking forward to being of assistance to you.

Jan
