Sierra City (4185' elevation) is a small mountain village located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains on scenic Highway 49, along the banks of the North Yuba River and at the base of the Sierra Buttes (8900' elevation). It has often been compared to the Alps.

Surrounded by the beautiful Tahoe National Forest, Sierra City is only 5 miles from the magnificent Lakes Basin Recreation area where various outdoor activates can be enjoyed. The world famous Pacific Crest Trail, where hikers from around the world come to enjoy, passes within a mile of town.

Sierra City's history dates back to the Gold rush days when Sierra City had a population of 3,000. Many of the historic buildings still stand and are a part of the ambiance of the town.

Sierra City is conveniently located about 1 1/2 hours drive from Reno and Lake Tahoe, 1 hour from Truckee, and 2 1/2 hours from Sacramento. This is also a popular vacation destination of many of the Bay Area travelers. With no traffic congestion, no crowds, you will understand why.
