Miners Emporium, Sierra CityMiners Emporium, Sierra CityMiners Emporium, Sierra City

Miners Emporium, located in the Historic Masonic building in Sierra City, right on Historic Hwy 49, was established in 1999 to meet the needs of the outdoor enthusiasts that visit Sierra City and the Lakes Basin area.

Even though the name relates to Miners, don’t let the name deter you from stopping in. We carry recreational mining equipment, gold pans, sluice boxes, and hand tools. We are now a dealer for White's Metal detectors. Come and take a look at our selection and ask for a demo. We also have GOLD! What is a trip to Gold Country without picking up a Nugget to show off to your friends? (They don’t need to know how you found it!)

We also carry some beautiful natural gold nugget jewelry, including earrings, rings and necklaces. Coins, for you collectors, (have you seen the beautiful 2003 Silver Eagles??). Prints of the area by local artists, maps and t-shirts. Did we tell you that we also carry “Tilly Hats”?? These are our newest addition.

We have been complimented on our extensive variety of Books.

We carry books on the hiking trails of the Sierra County area, including one of my favorites, “Yuba Trails” by Hank Meals. Hank was an archeologist in the Sierra Buttes area for many years and has actually walked the trails. Nothing like first hand information. Also available are geology, flowers, birds, and history books to name a few.

We have also a large collection of Historic Mining Books, many which are out of print.

Stop on by when you are in town. You may just find something interesting.

Hi my name is Don and I am 65 years old. My son introduced me to treasure hunting a little over a year ago. We went to a local Whites dealer near us and I bought a XLT-E series, and my son has one also. He called me one day and ask if I wanted to go try the old fairgrounds in the small town where I was raised when I was a kid. So they next day we went there. After we were there about an hour, we noticed it had been hunted pretty good, but we decided to stay a little longer. I got a nice tone and looked at my screen and it was reading a solid 91VDI in all directions! I pinpointed the target and it read 8.5 inches! I called my son over to check out this target. I was digging and got to about 7 inches and stopped to check the hole with my Whites Bullseye pinpointer, and it beeped when I stuck it in the bottom of the hole. I decided to dig with my fingers just in case it was an old silver coin. After digging with my fingers I felt something and looked in the hole and saw the gleam of a big silver disc! My son had his camera as he usually does and went to the car to get it. After he took the picture I reached down and pulled it out. It turned out to be a 1897 "S" Barber Half! Wow, my first silver half! We took some more pictures and decided to head home. It turned out to be a Key Date Barber and graded between Fine and Very Fine with a value $250 to $375 dollars. I love my Whites XLT and it is so easy to use. This is a great hobby and wish I would have started it a long time ago. It sure is fun getting out with my son and going on a "Treasure hunt", you never know what you'll find!
