Who am I
Born and raised in a rural area of Pittsburgh, PA, I migrated to CA soon after graduating from high school. I settled in Los Gatos and enrolled at the JC and enrolled in Restaurant Management classes which I thoroughly enjoyed, while working as a waitress.
I married a few years later, and as fate had it, my husband succumbed to cancer. I was recruited as a young widow into the Pre arrangement side of the Cemetery & funeral business. That was a career which lasted 15 years. It was emotionally rewarding and with my personal experience I had a story to tell.
This is where I met my husband Mike. He was the Cemetery manager, with the Gold Mining passion in his veins. On days off we would head to creeks to Gold pan & metal detect, and then he got into the dredging. I must admit, I enjoyed it also.
We eventually purchased a lot in Siera City and decided that was where we were going to live. We had our house constructed in 1996. It was a great experience clearing the lot, drawing plans, watching the build, picking appliances, carpet, etc. In 1999 we moved to Sierra City full time. I had taken the Real estate courses and was ready for a new career. I worked at Downieville Realty for 2 years before opening my own office. My husband opened “Miners Emporium” which was a store which he operated for 12 years, selling gold, books, jewelry & misc. mining goods.
We have formed some very strong bonds and relationships in the community. We are both active, belonging to the Fire Dept. I even got involved and took EMT classes and have been a volunteer EMT for the past 11 years.
That is my story. Come by and share yours.
